It may not be this BUT the biggest killer of motorcycle batteries is over charging.

Your battery is 6 volt and about 5 amp if you charge it with more than it can cope with the plates will warp, I would say the best bet would be to take it to your local bike shop and ask them if they have a MOTORCYCLE battery tester, this may not be the cause of your probs but a knackerd battery aint gonna help anything.
I would try this route before anything else, if the shops a good one they should do this for free.
