I'm with the rest, get your DAS done before October. A 125 would be cheaper on insurance but I doubt the big bike fun factor will be there.
I recently passed my CBT and DAS, about £580, some gear cost me about £250 and I found a tidy but old 1991 ZZR 600 for £800, I am 34 and my insurance was £150 with bennets.
I was going to go down the 125 route after my DAS to get some experience under my belt but I am glad I got the big bike and yess it not as new as I would have liked but bike is sound and I love it.
Plus if I drop it I only spent £800 notes
