I ride with dipped headlights normally and switch to high beam when filtering through traffic. My view is that you need all the help you can get to be visible to boxed morons.
I am also reasonably sure that a bobby once told me that if you are involved in an accident and you are wearing hi viz gear then the likely outcome in court would be in your favour if there was a dispute to liability. Could be wrong there but I am pretty sure thats what was said to me a while ago
