I spoke to a guy at a training centre about this (and to ask what my options were) and he basically said:
The test is the same for both types but the examiner would be more picky/strict for the full licence - would the examiner want someone with bad bike control riding round on a Hayabusa on the streets where his/her kids are playing?

I think DAS is just an intensive course to train you in preparation for a test (whether thats the A1 or A2 test) and the only variable is what age you are (under/over 21) when you take the test.
