All the gear...

... no licence! Well, it's only a matter of time ain't it ; but I figured I'd get the gear sorted in advance so I've got stuff sorted & ready to ride!

I was going to wait for all those bargains at the bike show in May (we're still coming along to that anyway) but owing to me and the missus being quite difficult to cater for size-wise and taste-wise... I went to 'On Yer Bike' in Aylesbury and got kitted out today.

We both tried a lot of stuff on in Hein Gericke and some other local shops too and just didn't like the fit of most pants or jackets. I tried some Dainese stuff in Aylesbury last week and it just felt brilliant. Anyway - this is a long story now so I'll shorten it by listing all the nice shiny and lovely-smelling new gear I just bought

For Her: Arai Light lid - custom fitted (xxxs ), Alpine Stars 4W Trackpants, Dainese Jacket, Alpine Stars SMX-4 boots, Gloves - can't remember the brand.

For Him: Arai Viper-GT Web-Red, Dainese Delta Pelle pants, Dainese Santa Monica Jacket , Sidi Vertigo boots, No gloves yet... but probably Dainese Piston... just to finish of the brand-tart thing!

So £2k+ later... I'm pretty much sorted for leather. A bit gutted as I'd originally imagined spending half that amount to kit us both out, but in fairness, I've got us both really good helmets (so important to me to know the wife is wrapped up good and proper) and we both tried on a lot of leather (most of it considerably cheaper) but we both came away with good quality gear that feels really comfortable and we're both really happy with.

God, I'm so excited! Glad I'm not bike-shopping yet... then I really WILL be excited!

Re: All the gear...

Dainese kit is top quality, I've bought quite a bit of it in the past non of which has been anything but top drawer. The only downside is the price as your bank manager will no doubt mention

Re: All the gear...

Great isn't it?

We went to the bike show at the NEC last November and got most of our gear - even though I had no intention of learning to ride until the weather got better (I could be waiting a while then!).

My fave bit of kit is my helmet -Shoei XR1000 FAB, I often prance around the house in it or sit watching telly with it on - even took it into work last night to show everybody 'cos they see me reading the highway code and keep asking if I'm really gonna learn to ride.

I'm sure Bill won't mind me telling you that he often wears his leathers round the house - usually at my request

It's not just blokes that like a nice bod in leather!

Good luck on getting your licence

say "cheese"

Re: All the gear...

Wow ... so jealous!! 18 months bike riding and i haven't got half that! Well done.

As long as you feel the part and feel comfortable then go for it!!

I don't think you can get much better than Alpinestars and Dainese

Honda CBR 600RR and proud!!

Re: All the gear...

Good choice of gear there Jono, if its good enough for Valentino then its good enough for anyone

On a side note I have just got a contact within Alpinestars with the intention of getting some gear to test out for articles for the sites.
