I had my zx-6r stolen last week with 500 quids worth of alarm and imobiliser on it. Obviously this didn't even bother the bastards who knicked it. When I get my new bike (soon hopefully) I was thinking, is it worth forking out that sort of money for an alarm just to get my premium down slightly, and for some slimey little pikey git just to ignore it?

Re: Alarm versus Insurance never bothered with alarms nobody pays any attention to them anymore, ive always stuck with the best chains and locks i can afford and been careful where i leave it, i have an alarm on my workshop where i keep my bike but the siren is in the house not outside so if anyone breaks in they dont know the alarm is going off, the only time their gonna know is when they see me asking what they think their doing tapping a baseball bat in my hand

Re: Alarm versus Insurance Bastards, sneaky nasty shits. Sorry to hear that Jim. I'm not sure that an alarm does anything, does anyone ever take any notice when one goes off? Besides the most they do is run the battery down. An immobiliser is probably worth the cost though. When I asked what the difference in price was to insure my bike if it didn't have an alarm it came to about 17 quid Thats a lot of insurance years to get that sort of cost back.

Re: Alarm versus Insurance Sorry to hear about your bike Jim, I just HATE bike thieves! ![]() Which ever you decide on will be the right choice! ![]() When I was searching on line for insurence for my bike, I noticed that some of the companies accepted disk locks and chains but they had to be branded items, so spend £20 - £50 on a good one and save yourself some dosh!

Re: Alarm versus Insurance Sorry to hear that matey. I agree with Indie, I always park mine within sight. And he lives in my dining room every night. Re: New bike. Get the ZX-10, it's cool as fuck, and anyway a Duke is just a poor-mans MV.
