Smelly problem

bought a 1994 dt 125 on Sunday. bike is in good condition and runs well is been modded to look more like a crosser. problem is I'm commutting to work on it and I stink of 2 stroke by the time I get to work. I learned my lesson from yesterday and brought a towel (for shower) and change of clothes today.

Should the dt be smelling this bad? or are all 2strokes like this, how do nsr & aprilia riders get on?

Is it smoking excessively?? if not then I guess this is normal (although it's a long time since i rode a stroker..)

A mate of mine run an rd 400 for years and swore by strawberry scented oil.. maybe you could try this and at least you'd smell like a strawberry, and not oil

What brand and type of oil are you using?

Can you see any oils leaks?

DT looks good BTW

Re: Smelly problem

It was smoking a little this morning. its been a while since I've had a two stroke my self so im not sure what excessive is. I thought DT's might be alittle different to a crosser.

I would love it to smell like strawberrys how do I go about doing that.

Re: Smelly problem

I wouldn't use super TT in your DT, that particular oil is mineral based and a very old specification. Go for a good semi synthetic designed for a oil injection system like Silkolene Comp 2 Injector, It's probably a bit dearer (In between 8 and 9 quid a litre) but doesn't smell as bad and is cleaner burning which is what modern two strokes prefer (sounds like Kit e kat ).
