A sad day in wombat land..

...as the laverda is taken away in the back of a van to the insurance assessors.

They keep on telling me they are in the business of repairing bikes and not writing them off and I really hope that's the case coz most of the damage is superficial. (When mrs wombat saw it she asked me what was wrong with it!!)

I took a load of photos for my records... and have up'ed them to HERE

In some of the photos the damage is not that obvious.. such as in photo 1 the RH exhaust is pushed out line... and in pic 3 the rearset is bent and hence the brake doesn't work..

Can all of you please cross whatever appendages you can, as I desperately want it repaired and not written off.

Re: A sad day in wombat land..

Good luck with the outcome Jonny, on the face of it it doesn't look too bad but who knows what decision these assessors will come to

This is the issue... As you might see from the pics before the knock she was mint, and completely original.. The company who assess and repair, fourth dimension, say they will repair it, but what worries me is availability of parts..

It's great riding a rare machine when you pull into a crowd of other bikes, the fact it's pretty much always the only one, (i've only every seen one other on the road) and it always gets a crowd .. but this is the down side.. spares are a nightmare..Mechanicals are not too bad to source but plastics are like rocking horse poo..

Re: A sad day in wombat land..

if the worst happens you may be able to buy it back from the insurance company, then when patiently to source the parts yerself over a longer period. I believe you'll have to declare yer interest in buying it back VERY EARLY in the decision process though, cos insurance companies have agreements in place with preferred salvage co's so if you don't pipe up quick (& be insistent!!!) then it'll be too late.
hopefully it'll be repaired though - great bike & far too rare to risk losing it. good luck mate

Re: A sad day in wombat land..

Good luck Johnny, I know through my job that insurance companies are far too quick at times to write a vehicle off, but having said that the decent ones will try to please the claimant if the vehicle has been looked after and as in your case is not of the norm (the vehicle not you ).
