Martin is Tiko

Ask him if he's remembered his anniversary those flowers he found at the side of the road won't do and Rich wants to know if he's fitted the lever to the GS500.

Re: I got my first bike - please help with my shopping list!

Bah, missed this before I went out!!

Well I got my bike, riding for the first time in 2 months was...interesting! I stalled twice outside the shop, but kept my cool and got a smooth take off the 3rd time! I went ruond the local area (no main roads) for about 15 minutes and got quite confident, everything came back really quick!

So I've been out on it for just short of 3 hours, I love it so so much! cars are RUBBISH compared! been on all country lanes to try and perfect my cornering, I'm goign to go out tomorrow in the rain to try and build my confidence up in the wet!

Only a cuople of things I'm finding hard, but I'm sure I will get used to eventually!

First is leather boots, being bigger it's much harder to get my foot under the gear leaver to go up a gear! as a result sometimes I'm knocking it down by accident, then back up, resulting in being in the same gear and just getting a jerk from the bike :P I guess you can't really give advice, it's just comething I need to get used to!

2nd thing is right turns on hills, theres a really steep hill with a right turn I'm goign to have to do each day, the problem I'm finding is I need to have my left foot down to lean on, right foot on rear brake, but it's difficult to get out of the junction smoothly as I'm leaning to the left and need to lean right to take the right turn! something I'm sure I will get used to, just a little speed bump at the moment :-(

But all this bike stuff is so much fun! and so much cheaper, I'm loveing it - doing between 60 - 70 MPG I reckon

Anyway, I'm going out to go for a drink and food to watch my brother propose, speak later/tomorrow all!

Andy

Re: I got my first bike - please help with my shopping list!

Glad you had a ball Andy

I have the gear problem with a cool pair of boots I bought that are big enough for two or 3 pairs of socks in winter (forward thinking). I have to turn my foot out the slide it back in as soon as I feel the gear, if I don't I end up with my foot under the crash bar Takes a bit of practice, but you'll find a way!

Re: I got my first bike - please help with my shopping list!

Glad you had a great time...put on your other post that your choice of bike is fab. Love the varaderos.
The hill starts take a bit of practise anyway...most of it takes a bit of practise. Hope the weather is kind to you tomorrow. Watch it on the country lanes. They can be a bit treacherous when wet.

Niki & Gaz

Monday morning..........let the stress begin !!
