No Centre Stand - is that normal?

Hi all,

When I parked my bike up for the night last night I reaised there's no centre stand...is this normal on bikes? being new to bikes I thought all bikes had them!

If it is normal that they all don't have one, can you buy them and have them fitted?

Many thanks, I'm off out on the bike for a few hours now!

Oh, and where the bloody hell do I get a backpack from that's water resistant? it's a bloody nightmare! checked argos, my local motorbike shop, army and navy store, and stil no luck!!

Going to check out the cycling shop today but that's my last idea...other than that I don't know!

Re: No Centre Stand - is that normal?

Hi Brads

never yet found a waterproof / water resistant rucksack that actually is! You could try Go Outdoors - what I do is use an ordinary rucksack and line it with a couple of heave duty bin liners (cut down).

As for centre stands - some do and some dont! I remember when I was looking at the CBF's and found the models with ABS have centre stands, while the models without dont.

Im sure someone lese will be along shortly with suggestions on where to get one from

Have a great days riding and enjoy

Hmmm, might be a case of going in Argos then and getting one of the streamline ones, then doing a DIY job to waterproof it???

I see a gap in the market here lads (and ladies!)

Anyway, I'm off out now! :-) hoping to catch the rain, face my fears and all that...

Re: No Centre Stand - is that normal?

try some of the outdoor, camping ,climbing, hiking shops for a reasonable backpack. but as bill says its better to line it with some plastic bags just to be sure. the bag i use for the bike was tiso's own make and only cost £20 and i also use it as a day pack when im walking, climbing and it has lasted about 4 years to date and is still in decent condition.

Re: No Centre Stand - is that normal?

I have a Jack Wolfskin rucksack that has thousands of miles on it and has never ever leaked.

I got it online, and it's great.

How's the bike Brads? you coming up to the horseshoe pass today?

Re: No Centre Stand - is that normal?

Wow, thanks guys! awesome info!

Well I'm goign to head to the cycling shop and hope they are open, then after that I'll try some of your suggestions! I've found a really nice slimline one in Argos, but I will have to line it myself as it's not waterproof!

I'd love to meet anyone riding around Cheshire today! I've been out on my bike since 9am this morning, done my run to work twice and thankfully it was raining!! so I've got used to it and will be ready for work tomorrow!!

If anyone would like to meet my number is: Zero Seven Nine Seven Four One Zero Two Six Zero Four

Sorry for the spelling the numbers out, stops any google bots or whatever reading it :-)

Well I'm off out again! just speared washing up liquid on the inside of my visor to hopefully stop the misting when I slow down (it's fine above about 30) - I hope to meet some of you out today!

If you do want to meet, best text so I can read when I stop (once every about 30 mins at the moment)

I will come up to that Horseshoe Pass, don't know where it is though so you will have to text me to let me know!

Thanks all!

Andy
