Andy's first proper day out! Hi all! Well I've been out since 9am this morning, only come home for a quick toilet break and to reply to forums then out again! So far been out for about 5 and a half hours in total stright, and I'm loving it! eevrythings nicely coming together, gear changes are evry smooth, I've been riding in the rain for about 2 hours, staying pretty dry (except my gloves!) and am happy, the rain doesn't bother me, I just go slower and am more careful of people not seeing me! I've had 2 people pulling out on me, but I've been cautious and so it wasn't a problem, I had to emergency stop for the 2nd one so give him the finger, guess what car? that's right, a BMW (4x4 one aswell) I am truly loving biking! I'm going to try and find if it's possible to buy and fit a centre stand, because I don't like leaving it on it's side stand all the time. I don't knwo what else to say for now! I just have a massive grin on my face, I have had women checking me out in town (being a 22 year old and I'm athletic, seems to do the trick!) and have got 1 girls number, she didnt' even see my afce properly, I had my visor lifted and was talking to her on my bike, then she handed her number over! :-) I'm still going to stay single though until the end of this year, 'play the field' some more! I'm going through one of the best times in my life! was even funny meeting up with my friend in Costa Coffee, walking in in my leathers and getting looks from everyone and smiles!! Hehehe I'm gonna dry off a bit, 'tailor' my new bag I bought to make it waterproof (otherwise known as heavy duty bin liner...) and then I'm heading back out to meet sme friends for a drink (would never drink alcohol and ride though, soft drink for me!) Thanks all for being so great, this forum has been great so far and I plan to now pay you back for all the advice you've given me by telling my stories and adventures on my bike! Hope to meet some of you soon, would be great :-) Andy P.S. I've had my Honda Varadero 125 up to 75mph, I was suprised!

Re: Andy's first proper day out! Nice one Andy, once you get the bug, you really get it. I'm 44 this year and feel like a teenager again just having rode a bike for only a year... or am I having a midlife crisis. Ha ha.

Re: Andy's first proper day out! I think I'm having a mid life crisis at 22 aswell! :-) It was very much a case of the girlfriend broke up with me, I thought "to hell with this, I'm getting a bike - I can't be arsed with a girlfriend" and had my car up for sale within the hour! a week later I had sold it, a week and a half later I'm here with a bike and no car at all! I've been out on it since 9am this morning, only just got back home :-) since 3:30pm yesterday I have put 139 miles on the clock :O I've been practicing lots! I can now keep up with cars (nobody overtakes me now!) and have also been doing some filtering! I can't wait to see that looooong line of traffic in the morning (no joke, must be 1/2 - 3/4 a mile long) and just riding round it :-) Well I feel tired but like the happiest boy on the planet! can't wait to do my DAS, this will be good practice for it and then I'll only need 2/3 days DAS and hopefully pass first time! I've found it easier to go round bends if I put my leg out on the side I'm leaning...will the examiner mark me down if I do this in an exam? I don't want to get into bad habits... I'm gonna go have a pizza now, just to make this day even better! Andy

Re: Andy's first proper day out! Confidence is great Andy but over confidence can be deadly (and there's a fine line between them). Glad your enjoying your life now, stay safe mate and enjoy it for as long as you should. Todd Last edited by Scudnut : 07-06-2008 at 10:18 PM. Reason: drunk again!
