Car parks

This may be a stupid point but what are thr rules on car parks ??? On most pay and displays near me there are no areas specially for bikes and paying and putting a sticker on the bike is a no brainer really. I cant see any exemption on the fee board either. The barrier pay on exit ones are fine as their is a reduced rate. I dont know of any 'bike areas' either. Any help or advice ??

Re: Car parks

I guess it depends on the individual car parks and whether they provide specific motorbike facilities.

The following pages from the Department of transport may have some useful information.

Main page, Department for Transport - Motorcycle parking

Pay and display specific, Department for Transport - Motorcycle parking

Hope this helps

Re: Car parks

Yeah I would like to know the technicalities behind this too as have quite a few like the car park described above surrounding me. As stated, it would be silly to pay for a ticket and put it on your bike as it will just get stolen!

Re: Car parks

As you state your location as Mansfield......

Most of the car parks in Mansfield are free for bikes. I phoned the council to check as there's no information by the ticket machine . Toothill Lane carpark has a shelter for bikes so I tend to use that. Not sure about the multi-storeys. If you're going into Nottingham, then the parking meters are free (asked a traffic warden) and Trinity Square multi storey has a nice area for bikes that's in view of the attendants office.
