50 pence worth of embarrassment

Got my bike from its MOT this morning and on the way home I filled up and decided to check the tire pressure.

So, with the bike on the center stand, dust caps removed, I deposit the requisite 50 pence. The Compressor fires up and I set the digital gauge to 36 PSI and approach my front wheel, it is only then I find there is no way to get the nozzle on because of the brake discs!

As I try all conceivable angles to get the darn thing on I notice people waiting for the air/water, not to look stupid I replace the dust cap and confidently approach the rear wheel only to find the angles just as difficult.
A little embarrassed I decided to leave it and use the little car pump at home.

I hope I am not the only one to have done this!

I do mine with a foot pump and digi guage for the same reasons. You need to check/alter the tyre pressure when its stone cold anyhow

Luckily Triumph valves are at a right angle so no problem

Re: 50 pence worth of embarrassment

Some of them can be a complete b'stard, you have to try and attach by getting as close to the axis of the wheel as possible.

You could buy a couple of right angle valve extensions.

Re: 50 pence worth of embarrassment

The daft thing is that it never occured to me that this could be a problem, I only decided to use the garage as it was next to the MOT place as i normally do this at home but I am glad I did in a way.

I will get a right angle adapter to put in a tool bundle tho, thanks for the idea Rerb.

Problem solved

Re: 50 pence worth of embarrassment

Had a similar problem when the garage put in a new air line, had to bool the bike forwards to get to the front and then further forwards to get to the back

Found an old angled one at the repair garage down the road after my car MOT so I'm gonna get my moneys worth in air from em and with a bit of red lippy they'll prob do it for me

£250 for 2 tyres + MOT
