Thumbs down Raincover

hello all
was after some advice on raincovers. due to my garage door getting stuck and stripping all the teeth off the gearbox i am keeping the bike outside for next couple of weeks.

i have 2 questions really.

1, seems sensible to me but is it necessary to dry the bike off before putting cover on?

2, will a 15 quid cover from argos do the job for this temporary problem?

thankyou

They're ok for light showers, but I bought one a few years back (the blue and silver one) and it leaked in heavier rain.
thankyou

If I was going for a cover, I'd get the heaviest duty one I could, and make sure bike is in a sheltered spot if you can find one

Re: Raincover

I'd try and avoid putting a cover on when the bike's wet, 'cos it'll still be wet when you take it off days later, but as it's only temporary, I don't think it'll turn to rust! It might be worth looking on ebay etc...I got an Oxford heavy duty cover for under 1/2 price, as new (postage free). There's also quite a few on 'buy it now' for a lot less than retail.

Re: Raincover

thats what i thought. trouble is its impossible to dry it in the persistent weather so im up a creek so to speak. thatll teach me to buy an all singing remote control garage door. had to call out the door people just to get the car and bike out.
dont have anywhere very good to park it cos the ground is uneven and soft so its gonna be fingers crossed that the chrome holds out and the wind doesnt catch it wrong.
thanks mike

Re: Raincover

At least you have a fighting chance against rust with a Honda

Haven't you got a bit of wood to put under the stand?

i use a bit of wood even when the bike is in the shed,it gives the bike a much more upright position and its easier to look round/check thing/polish.

Re: Raincover

thanks guys

got a piece of wood but its still not great - after a few days of head scratching decided to park it between mine and the neighbours garage on a slope. difficult to get it in there but solid as a rock when its in.
