Birdstrike!

I had my first 'birdstrike' today On the road today I noticed a buzzard flying off with a dead rabbit (it was a damn big buzzard) while his mate warded off anyone else trying to get in, however his mate failed to see me hurtling towards the pair at 50mph and paniced, he flew away from me and then decided he was going to fly right in front of me instead.. he managed to bounce off my wheel and smack me square in the shin. Luckily, there was a biker cafe 2 minutes down the road so I stopped for a good rest. Anyone else get birdstriked? He was such a big fat buzzard as well, hurt like a thing-that-really-hurts.

Re: Birdstrike!

On a KLR650 a couple of chickens crossed the road ( there must be a joke there somewhere!! ) and then they heard me and my mate on his bike bearing down on them. Once they reached the saftey of side of the road one turned back and started to fly back. She made it to about handlebar height when I was passing. Result one gutted chicken with "the bits" all over my arm and chest !

As we were on the way to KFC and I wondered if I took that in would I get a discount ?

Re: Birdstrike!

Nope on the birdstrike, very happy to say but did hear of someone getting hit in the face by a pheasant

But was hit head-on - dead centre of visor by the biggest fatest n very quickly flattest bumble bee you hav ever seen.
Imagine just how far they spread over your visor ar 70mph and how tight certain muscles go as all visibilty disappears at that speed

Re: Birdstrike!

I nearly hit a bird in Windsor a couple of weeks ago, a half asleep Japanese tourist.

Does that count?

Re: Birdstrike!

Luckily I took this one to the leg instead of the face, that could have been an interesting situation... Ah even more dangers to the world of motorcycling, how I love it

I knew someone was going to say that, Scudnut What kind of bike is that in your picture? No 70mph? I can hit it with a nice tailwind on the CG, but the engine starts deconstructing itself at those kind of revs so I try not to!

Re: Birdstrike!

It's a marauder mate, it'll do between 42 and 65 depending on which way the wind is blowing and how steep the hill is.

Re: Birdstrike!

Never mind the cafe being 2 minutes down the road, was the buzzard OK, if it was totalled RIP great bird.
