jonnywombat and skodaphil....mechanical geniuses So we decided to service the Bandit today.. We did an oil and filter change, cleaned air filter, and changed the sparkley plugs, messed around with brakes, modified the rearend a bit .... Got loads of photos and plan to do a couple of how tos.....and a few funnies to share along the way... BUT The bandit now runs worse than when we started Number four cylinder won't fire properly... sometimes it don't fire at all, then it will run under load, but not at idle..change plug back to original, and seemed to cure it for 30 secs, but then went back onto 3... Our guess is in disturbing the HT lead and coil to change plug we have highlighted some issue, either with a bad earth, or a dodgy HT lead or coil... Anyway rain stopped play today.. bolted tank etc back on and rode home on 3.5 cylinders... Will hopefully get her sorted tomorrow Absolutely P1SSED off atm.. think I'm gonna get drunk

Re: jonnywombat and skodaphil....mechanical geniuses Bloody Suzuki electrics told you u should have bought a Honda ![]() ![]() Had a similar problem years age on an old CB400 and it turned out to be a dodgy HT lead - only problem is it comes as a unit - coil with two HT leads coming out of it for mega bucks. ![]() Thought stuff that, boughht a length of HT lead for 50p , carefully cut away the casing of the coil where the lead goes in it with a Dremel type thingy, unsoldered the old HT lead, soldered the new lead in (with many burnt fingers and much swearing ) and filled the hole around it with liquid 2 part poxy resin which set n sealed it perfectly - no more ignition problems ![]()

Re: jonnywombat and skodaphil....mechanical geniuses Reputation, such as it was, has been restored... as has bandit sparkl-i-ness. Took off tank and removed coil. cleaned all contacts and removed number 4 plug gap from HT lead, chopped lead down by 20mm, and refitted. Jiggled coils ends of HT leads.. Now fires on 4, but it seems to be the HT lead into coil joint that is causing problems. New bike specific coil ordered from LM Spares online for 35 notes. Hopefully will have it in place by mid week, and we should be worry free ![]()
