Helmets Went to Ducati Manchester today to try one some helmets, as im not sure what size i need. And im still none the wiser! Some size smalls were too tight, some mediums were too tight, etc. Are the sizes universal, or does it depend on the manufacturer, etc?

| Re: Helmets There's quite a few threads around about helmets. (see links below) The general consensus is to try on all of the makes until you find one that fit's and feels comfy using the info from Mike on sizing your head. | Re: Helmets It tends to vary from make to make, and depends on the shape of your head too. Some lids might be the right size according to the tape, but never feel quite right coz the shape of the padding don't match your head.. Just keep trying lids till you find one that fits properly.. |

Re: Helmets I've just bought a mint arai (leon haslam replica ) from mike. I thought my other two lids were good fits - til I tried that on. its super snug, and feels lighter too. with that in mind, I'd recommend trying on as many different helmets as poss before buying one ![]()

Re: Helmets Also, the padding will have a fair bit of "give" in it and what might feel an uncomfortably tight fit, may break itself in after a bit of use. That's what I find on Arai's anyway. I've just bought a new Viper-GT, when I wore it for the first run out, it felt tight round my forehead and cheeks (the cheekpads are 5mm longer than usual arai ones. Now I've had it for a few weeks it's perfect. The worst thing is when you buy a helmet and it feels comfy for it's first use, but after a couple of weeks it feels like it's lifting off your head when you're at fast speeds. I had an AGV that was like that, it's not very reassuring at all. The Mrs has a Caberg V2, i was going to get her an Arai too, but the Caberg was far more comfortable for her.

Re: Helmets Just been to Hein Gericke and got an AGV one, its size small. I thought the medium fit better but the man said it went on too easy, so to try the small, he said its tight but it should be because the padding will give and lose half a size. Cost £180.
