| Is it worth it? It is worth it for this?
£330-£350, for the Honda CG 125 i purchased. I think it is worth it, but i want some opinions on whether that price is cheap or expensive, or about mid-range? It is basically a whole rebuild for £350 and it will be "as new" once done. Cheers, Rob |

| Re: Is it worth it? no sorry i dont think its worth that at all, what about just a second hand engine and do the brakes yourself? the engine will be cheap |

| Re: Is it worth it? Thats the problem, there is nowhere else which could do the job, except one which is 20miles away in Redruth and one which is 45 miles away in St Austell. It really does suck. This garage is less than 2 miles from where i live, so it is "walking distance" if my mum is in work. Rob |

| Re: Is it worth it? what about doing the work yourself? seriously, buy the parts and do it yourself, take your time, photograph everything as your taking it apart, even write notes, at the end of the day its only an engine, its not complicated, i know your thinking 'i cant do that' but yes, yes you can, get the engine set at tdc mark everything and youll be fine, buy yourself a haynes manual as well, i rebuilt my first engine when i was 12, i didnt think i could do it but my dad kept saying 'you can do it' guess what? he was right |

| Re: Is it worth it? what he said.Look at it this way, the bike's fooked. No getting away from that. You've nothing to lose by getting a manual and all the bits and having a go yourself. When you get stuck post the problem on here and I'm sure someone would be along to advise you. Fixing it youself will give you a huge confidence boost. |

| Re: Is it worth it? Looks like Indie and FirestorMike are chomping at the bit to help. I personally try and avoid doing anything that's more than 3 spanners in the Haynes manual , but like FSM says, what ya got to lose. Best advice I can offer is that when your using your spanner, its loosey lefty, tighty righty. If you do it yourself, can you post the pictures? |
