Re: How many times to pass a bike test?

Passed 2nd time. Put my foot down on the dreaded u-turn first time.

Passed 9th January 2003. Second time out it was snowing...examiner went out in his car. Decided he couldn't stay with me in the city so took me down all country lanes....sliding all over the place. Was going to fail me for not hitting 60 in a 60 limit and only doing 40 until my instructor pointed out to him that riding at that speed would have been lethal.
He gave in in the end and passed me.....he is one of those who likes to ride about on his days off dressed like a traffic bobby and openly admits it..... am getting the word 'knob'

Monday morning..........let the stress begin !!

Re: How many times to pass a bike test?

Did car test at 18 and passed first time ( had been driving farm vehicles and a 10tonne horse lorry - all on private roads of course - since I was 13)

Rode a 50 when I was 16 and went to a 125 when I was 17 and rode on and off till I was 23 - did a 3 day course (day 1 CBT, day 2 learning for main test, day 3 more learning and main test) and passed first time

Dont think I'd like to do it these days, especially with all the theory and hazard perception tests, so a big hats off to all you who pass it these days

Re: How many times to pass a bike test?

I can finally add to this thread. Passed unrestricted test first time last week. Got 3 minors. Passed my car test 2nd time (apparently all the best drivers pass 2nd time ) but that was many moons ago.

Re: How many times to pass a bike test?

passed on my 2nd attempt (last wednesday). Originally sure i'd mess the U-turn up first time round, did it fine then locked the back wheel on the E-stop. Sure i'd failed 2nd time round but my jaw hit the floor when he told me id passed.

Re: How many times to pass a bike test?

Just blow the trumpet for my partner - she passed in April first time with only one minor fault. all the more remarkable when I tell you that she never learned to ride a bicycle and this time last year had never been on anything with two wheels. It took her six days to get her CBT and then she went out almost every other day on a Jinlun all through the Winter and then did a week with Mike Williams in Bolton in April for her Direct Access. Alot of pain, alot of tears, quite a few arguments but man did she do well in the end.
She looks shit hot now riding around on her own Harley - then again, maybe I am biased.
