Re: How many times to pass a bike test? I did the car test in September '84 and passed first time after paying for a course My mum got a shit load of compensation for being smacked in the ear by the next door neighbour and it burst her ear drum ![]() I did the bike test a year later so I could go straight onto a "bigger bike" as at the time I was legally riding a CB125 and illegally riding a Honda Superdream 250. As I recall I got 3 minors, putting my right foot down instead of my left at a junction to turn right, pulling the front brake with 2 fingers and I can't remember what the 3rd one was. I think it was being a bit too close to parked cars when I passed them or was it too far over to the white line??? I honestly can't remember but it was something like that. For me I think riding a "bigger bike", all be it illegally, that helped as it was the 125 I went through the test on. I didn't even take any lessons for the bike test,

If at first you don't succeed buy a snipers rifle, hire a clown suit and climb a clock tower

Re: How many times to pass a bike test? [quote=Cupidstunt;21717]Im a happy chappy this evening...picked up the Z750 this afternoon. I was bricking it as i pulled away from the dealership, visions of totalling it at the first corner...though it was nice not having the instructor bollocking me every other breath. I managed to navigate the traffic through Stockton town centre without too much bother, then the dual carriageway. It seemed incredibly quick even though i didnt go above 6000rpm - the thought of how quick it might be once run in is a little bit scary TBH. Pulling into the street where i live saw it all go pear shaped, stalled it twice, simply couldnt get clutch/throttle/rear brake to work together at all. I guess it will take time to get used it all. mate has a z750 in green great bike, what colour did u go 4

Re: How many times to pass a bike test? I have been living this same dream today ![]() Picked up my brand new ER-6F from Newcastle-Under-Lyme and had visions of writing it off as I entered the dual carriage way! all went fine though, seems stupidly fast and that's without goign over 4,500 RPM! It scares me too that when it's run in I can take it all the way up to 14,000 RPM....! I'm just goign to take it easy, I have already very nearly dropped it today, luckily there was a pedestrian and he was a VERY nice bloke, saved me from scratching the whole left side! I couldn't thank him enough and bought him a coffee, I've been careful since (I forgot to put the side stand down and thought I had put it down, need I say any more, lol) Andy

Re: How many times to pass a bike test? passed first time - either there is a god or the examiner was on his last day before he retired and was looking kindly on his candidates that day ![]() I'm amazed at folk being able to remember their test - I was so stuffed full of nerves during the test I couldn't remember a damn thing about it afterwards and when I heard the magic words "you've passed" I just went into a sort of vacant silly grin trance like state, which lasted for a good few days!
