| Re: What was your 'Golden Biking Moment'? There have been many golden moments and many other coloured moments, but I just wrote this to try and explain the golden ones: I leave the urban streets behind, the 30 limit’s gone The open road is beckoning me and I hear the engine drone Sweeping bends await me and my heart misses a beat I open up the throttle and slide back on my seat The wind tugs at my leathers, the scenery is blurred Nothing ever comes as close to riding on my Bird A87 heading west, with mountains either side I see an eagle soaring high, its wings are spread so wide Red deer grazing down the glen really are a sight When they see me speeding by will they get a fright? The experience is wonderful, it really should be shared But I don’t mind being alone, I’m riding on my Bird I hang a right and up the hill, the road’s now single track Seems so narrow as I climb up high and there’s no turning back I crest the hill and take a break, the view is just divine Back on the bike I head down hill holding the right line Suddenly a tight bend looms and so I drop down into third Chasing the vanishing point, I love riding my Bird And so the ride continues, mile after lovely mile Passing cars and caravans, it really makes me smile Eventually I turn for home, it’s been a cracking day Overtaking everything that dares get in my way It’s only other bikers know this feeling so I’ve heard The feeling that I always get when riding on my Bird |
