probably another dumb question.....

but here goes......do all bikes make noises when they aren't switched on or is mine posessed? I only have the experience of my cbr125 which never did it, but my babyninja makes rather disconcerting noiseswhen its just parked up minding its own business. I've put it down to something very technical to do the expanding air n gasses n petrol tanks and man stuff, but its just occurred to me that maybe I should ask just in case

Can you describe the noise more precisely, and the origin of it - someone on here is bound to tell you exactly what it is.

Its like a groan, moaning noise .......no keys in nothing turned on. Quite freaky really if you just walk into a cold dark garage.

Groaning? Better call the ghostbusters! On a more serious note, the only noise I've noticed mine make is a 'cling, clang' sort of a noise from the exhaust after a ride. But I'm fairly sure that's normal.

Groaning, on the other hand..

Re: probably another dumb question.....

noises from components cooling down after a run is normal but never heard a bike 'groan' when cold
dunno how to phrase this delicately, so I'll just say that if you have a big bottom perhaps you should sneak up on yer bike from behind - so it can't see ya coming

Re: probably another dumb question.....

I'm beginning to think I should take more water with it. More worried that ever now, thought you'd all know what I was talking about... what makes it worse is I just know that if I take it somewhere for a second opinion it won't do it and then I'll look even more dumb than I felt for asking in the first place

I think he should check the locally Euclidean metrization of the k-fold contravariant Riemannian tensor field...

The only noise my bike makes without being 'on' is a click, click, clicking after a ride when it's been thrapped.

To be serious for a sec (oh yes, I can be) - so is this before a run, when the bike is cold, or after, when it is hot? And does it do it whatever the ambient temperature?
I only ask because one of my bikes (can't remember which one) used to have a funny noise, but only when the ambient temp was warm and the gas tank was full, so it must have been air escaping.
Either that, or you need an exorcist, not a mechanic.
