Dare to be Diesel?

I'll stick my head above the parapet but with rising fuel costs has anyone else considered a diesel bike?.
Before you all shoot me down in flames i mean i terms of doing the daily grind to work and back (64 miles day) not having "fun" at the weekend, ideally id have two bikes one for each but thats not in the budget
I have seen the single cylinder Hatz engined Enfields but laudable as they are it doesnt really float my boat, what does intrigue me is the TD800 (smart car engined) big trailie type bike made in Holland, this is a very small co producing small quantities so the cost is prohibitive but what about the big manufacters? have they considered doing something like it?
From a purely practical view if they made one at about £6-£7K id buy one, personally the fuel economy of a 125 with the torque of a big beemer would be an attractive package!
Ok, back in my bunker now, fire away!

Re: Dare to be Diesel?

I can see certain types of bikes being produced with diesel engines, i.e. touring bikes - trailies etc, but most bikes for now will stick with petrol for a long time yet I think.

Re: Dare to be Diesel?

There already is a diesel bike in use by NATO forces. It can only be a matter of time before a civvie version is on the market.

Also there are a few more, just search for the term "diesel" in the video section

I just realised that you signed up at Bikerholic Mottorad, why don't you add your video links there .

I could do it for you but then it would show as my video

Re: Dare to be Diesel?

All that lovely diesel above my tyres along with the smoke and fumes (I could put up with it from a two stroke).

Apart from that it sounds a good idea if they were to run a little cleaner.

Your speel chequers fine SB

V12 Diesel powered motorcycle

IF G.I Joe rode a bike, this would be it. A 620hp diesel V12 powered bike and sidecar outfit powered by a Soviet T-55 tank. This behemoth of a bike has been built by mental German builders, Harzer Bike Company. Tilo Niebel and his clan of nuts bikers have come up with a few ‘out-of-the-ordinary’ machines in the past, but...
