| Back in 1980 the world of motorcycling had never had it so good. Or so it seemed on the surface. We saw power levels soaring, performance becoming increasingly ballistic and, finally, signs that handling and braking were starting to enter the design briefs of those inscrutable Japanese. | Re: Yamaha TR1 - XV1000 Hi I have just read your article about TR1's as I have just brought one, I was looking for something different and my mate found it on ebay and paid just over £600. Collected it yesterday and it is in stunning condition with 13'000 miles from new. The ride home was brilliant! Only problem is everyone keeps saying the starters were a problem on these, have you had any problems with yours? ![]() Joe (South Staffs) |

| Re: Yamaha TR1 - XV1000 Sorry to take so long - I've been having operations on me shoulder and haven't spent much time at the pc. Then I broke my foot yesterday - gutted! I had problems with the starters on both of my first two TR1s when I got them. The first was fixed for free in a day by the dealer I bought it from, and never had a problem again (The dealer was Norman & Birch in Hanley). The second was fixed by Foley Motorcycles near Longton. Took weeks and cost an arm and a leg! I've since discovered that the fix is relatively easy and needn't cost much - just look at Manfred's TR1 page - mostly in German, but there is stuff in English too. |
