Re: Ron Haslam Race School

Helloooooo! I'm back

Sorry for the delay been out playing!

It's a cracking day, and I thought well worth the money. I ended up with one on one instruction from a young Aussie chap called Shannon Etheridge who's racing in the BSB Virgin Yamaha R1 cup.
Three sessions on track and we managed around eight to ten laps per session. That may not sound much but it's plenty when you start pushing on. I ached in places i didn't know I had the following day. It's well organised, safe and a great buzz thrashing the nads off someone else's 600RR!!
Actually riding the circuit wasn't as intimidating as I'd been led to believe, redgate, craner curves up through Mcleans, it's a stunning piece of tarmac and great to ride. It did stay dry too
So in a nutshell if you've got a few quid spare it's well worth a go.
Cheers
Sax

Eyup Saxon, where have you been hiding then

The young lad that we are sponsoring, Ben McConnachie - his Dad, Ian is an instuctor there

My lad is booked in on the 125's on Wednesday for his birthday treat and I will take some video of the day. As soon as I work out how to get it edited for the web, I will post it on here

Hi Saxom, welcome back glad to hear it was fun - you got some pics? has it made you a better road rider? more control? what did you think to the 600RR?

Hi Singhy,

My mate took some DVD of me at the Melbourne loop pretending to be a GP rider!! But no pics, you have to pay extra for them and I'm tight!!
It was well worth the instruction, particularly about moving about on the bike for corner speed etc. They get you hanging off and give you instruction on a bike in the pits on the correct positions. It felt unatural for me at first (probably cos I'm 6' 1" and built like a Rhino) but it makes a big difference at speed on the track and feels f@*8ing great!
Right the CBR600RR....ok I'm used to big naked bikes and currently ride the B King which is the size of a house like me. So initially the CBR felt like a mini moto, knees up head down etc and very small. But that was the only down side for me nice little bike and quick enough. They havn't got the arm wrenching acceleration of the bigger bikes but are the right bike for riding round Donnington. The CBR is just fun on there, handle great and just keep revving, third gear with engine screaming down Craner Curves and hanging off the bike you got to try! It WILL make you smile!!
