control tyres in moto gp well it looks like its gonna happen, one tyre supplier only, what do you think? personally i think its good, but dont think it goes far enough, i think 1) 1 tyre supplier with 3 options slicks, inters and wets, with no special compounds 2) ban ALL the electronic aids, espically the fuel monitoring, run lean, you will finish the race distance crap ive been a keen formula 1 fan for many years, but now with all the technology it has become an engineers sport and boring, and i feel moto gp is heading the same way, bring the racing back to ground, instead of a rider on the best bike with special tyres well thats it rant over what do u think?

Re: control tyres in moto gp I think if done right it can be a good thing, the problems start as soon as non bike related people start to get involved - and they will. The other side of the coin is that any new developments will be based solely on one tyre make, what happens when this technology hits production bikes with varied use of tyre manufacturers ![]()

I know what you mean....the racing is gradually being handed over to the bloody engineers with the engine management systems which control power output to conserve fuel to enable the bike to finish the race; this also spills over into traction control and all the other system developed by the engineers to make the whole system more efficient and 'entertaining'. The problem is...where do we draw the line? Do we move to a single engine/bike/tyre series where it's all on the rider? Or do we give the engineers free reign to develop and implement their systems? What's the solution? | |

Re: control tyres in moto gp Mmm tricky one, definately agree with the 1 set of tyres thing Idie, but if the gadgets start getting in the way like they did in F1 my new found interest in Bike Racing isn't gonna last long as it'll be all about the bike and the rider will become secondary.. ![]()

Re: control tyres in moto gp I really hope it doesn't become the same boring sport that F1 became. I used to love watching F1, but now it bores the hell out if me with all the technical garbage that goes into every race. What happened to the good ol' days of the drivers pushing the car to its limits without the aid of computers? For me Moto GP stands head and shoulders above F1 in terms of skill level and sheer excitement. I hope it doesn't go the way of F1.

Re: control tyres in moto gp With Dani switching to BS from Michelin (and going faster) - there's not too many top riders left on the french rubber. Will Michelin stay in MotoGP? It must be costing them alot just to grab the tail end of the points... Maybe the answer to the electronics problem (rider aids) - is the go the same way as F1 and have a standard ECU. But i don't think the big manufacturers will like that!!
