A BIKER who was banned and handed a custodial sentence for using his feet to obscure his registration plate from speed cameras had his sentence drastically reduced following an appeal.
On two occasions in 2007, Alexander James Bell, 21, of Mayflower Road, Southampton, was caught on camera speeding in 30mph zones, but he shifted his body to cover the registration plate with his feet.
Bell was slapped with a six-month ban and two-month prison sentence but the ban was lifted and the custodial sentence halved after judges heard Bell's earnings as a transport clerk went to support his widowed mum and younger siblings.
