Bikers raise air ambulance cash
BIKERS from across the west arrived in Trowbridge on Saturday to accompany two riders from the Midlands who are on a mission to ride 2,000 miles in nine days in aid of air ambulances across the UK.
The Full Throttle Fundraiser, which is supported by BBC Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond who benefited from air ambulance services after his horrendous high speed crash, included a visit to The Shires shopping centre by Karl Taylor and work colleague James Smart with support van driver Colin Beswick.
After their visit to Trowbridge, the duo moved on to Bath and to Bristol on Sunday and will continue their journey to other centres in the north of England and Scotland, before finishing on Sunday.
All the money raised from sponsorship, donations and raffle ticket sales will help air ambulance organisations across the country, in this case Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
So far around £1,700 has been raised at The Shires and raffle tickets are on sale until April 16 with all proceeds going to Wiltshire Air Ambulance. Air Ambulance is an organisation close to bikers' hearts because of the work they do in helping save the lives of accident victims, many of whom are bikers.
Also at The Shires were stands by Wiltshire Constabulary's BikeSafe, Wiltshire Air Ambulance, the mid-Wiltshire Branch of the Motorcycle Action Group, Trowbridge bike shop GM Stevens, from Canal Road and members of the Oxford White Horse region of the Honda Goldwing Motorcycle Club.

As part of the fundraising, a new Suzuki GSX650F motorbike is up for grabs in a raffle that aims to raise £20,000. Alternatively there's a cash alternative of £5,000.
Karl, 45, a shopping centre manager and James, 29, services manager at a shopping centre in Lincolnshire, have been riding motorbikes since their teens and initiated the idea with support from their bosses and work colleagues.
Both rode Suzuki bikes similar to the raffle prize and praised the support they received from shoppers in Trowbridge and staff at The Shires for their warm welcome and interest in their adventure.
