CAMBRIDGESHIRE FIRE and Rescue Service in conjuction with local Police and Cambridgeshire County Council's Road Safety Team are to hold a motorcycle safety day this Sunday (April 13).
The day will give riders an opportunity to have a free safety check, speak to road safety team officers and the police, and enjoy a barbecue with like-minded enthusiasts.
Bikers will also be given the opportunity to sign up for a bike safety course, which will be run at the fire station during either April or May by BikeSafe.
The course will cost £35 and for that, riders get over £10 worth of course material as well as six hours classroom input on riding and an assessed ride of about an hour at the end
The course aims to increase riders' perceptions of hazards that face them on the road, such as other motorists, the road surface, cornering and speed. It concludes with a one-hour assessment by police riders. A certificate is presented to each rider who successfully completes the course.
The event will be held at St Neots Fire Station, Huntingdon Road, on Sunday, April 13, from 10am to 3pm.
