A Dartmouth man is in serious condition after his motorcycle hit a car and he was thrown 30 to 40 feet.
At about 3:30 p.m. Friday, Chad Bergeron, 29, was driving his 2007 Suzuki motorcycle on Milton Street when he collided with a 1999 Chevrolet driving in the same direction and was thrown from his motorcycle. The driver of the car, Valerie Sylvia, 24, of Dartmouth, was turning left into a driveway when her car was struck by the motorcycle, according to a police press release.

Emergency workers responded to the scene and found Mr. Bergeron lying on the side of the street, semiconscious. Police suspect that Mr. Bergeron's helmet was not properly fastened because they found it at least 30 feet away from him.
Mr. Bergeron was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford and later to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition in the trauma intensive care unit.
Officer Nancy Thibodeau and the Dartmouth police accident reconstruction team are investigating the crash.
