SMT Honda’s Adam Jenkinson will not be racing at Oulton Park in two weekends time after the 23-year old from Manchester broke his right wrist at Thruxton this weekend.
SMT Team Owner Robin Croft told MCN: “Adam had to have an operation down at Southampton hospital on Sunday night and early hours of Monday morning.
“He’s got a metal brace on the outside of his wrist at the moment to keep the bone in place but they will have to operate again tomorrow (Wednesday) and then he can have it in a cast.
“The break was a compound fracture and the bone came out of his hand so he has an open wound at the moment.
“He’s a bit battered and bruised but hasn’t got any internal injuries or broken bones.”
Croft also reported to MCN that he’ll be on the look out to find a replacement rider for Oulton Park with Jenkinson sidelined.
“Adam is our number one rider,” said Croft.
“When he is fit to ride he will be back in the team.”
SMT will also be running current World Supermoto contender Christian Iddon in Superstock 600 for a possible six rounds to see if he can follow in Sam Warren’s footsteps after he showed his road racing potential in the Henderson R1 Cup last weekend after doing most of his racing in supermoto.
