Oliver's Mount - County Riders Compete In Spring Cup

Three Lincolnshire riders contested the Spring Cup races at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough at the weekend with Ivan Lintin from Bardney securing a clutch of top results.

Despite still having a few problems with the collarbone damaged last time out at Mallory, Lintin rode to second place in the first leg of the 250cc class and was fourth in leg two on the McKinstry Racing Yamaha. He then rode to victory in the B final of the 600cc race and was third in the second leg, this time riding the Sunfish UK/Bardney Racing Honda. He then rode the Barron Transport GSXR 1000cc Suzuki to fifth position in the heat going on to score 10th and seventh places in the two-leg final.

“It was a good meeting for me,” said Lintin. “I was still suffering a bit from the collarbone injury and it did affect my result in the Ian Watson Spring Cup race. I was running fifth for most of the time but couldn’t turn into the hairpin, as I had no strength in my shoulder, which lost me a few places.

“I contested seven events from the 13 in the afternoon and if you take the qualifying heats into consideration I was out on track on 13 different occasions!

“My next outing will be in Ireland at the weekend where I will be riding at Cookstown this weekend and then Tandragee the week after where I will be testing the new Honda Fireblade Superbike for Barron Transport in readiness for the North West 200.”

Ross Johnson from Woodhall Spa rode to fourth place in the 600cc heats and rode through to a podium finish of third in the first leg of the B final going on to take seventh in leg two. He also rode to a strong fifth place in the 400cc race.

Ross is also preparing for the Cookstown races in Ireland at the weekend where he will be riding in the 400cc race.

Dave Hewson from Branston finished the two 600cc races in 10th And 13th position and was 12th in the second leg of the Spring Cup final
