Family slate Dallas Police over treatment of fatal accident
TWO DAYS after passersby found the body of a motorcycle rider near the scene of a crash officers has already investigated, family members of the victim have spoken out against the officers who attended the scene.
On Sunday morning, 38-year-old Thomas Gregory Davidson was involved in a crash while riding his motorcycle in Dallas. After a one hour search for the driver of the motorcycle, officers left the scene without finding the missing rider. Four hours later, passersby found Davidson's body.
"A homeless person was able to go through his pockets," said Tisha Frisbee, Davidson's sister. Davidson's family said leaving the scene of the accident without finding him was inexcusable by the police.
"At no time do we ever want to leave an individual involved in an accident still at the scene," said Sr. Cpl. Kevin Jansey, Dallas Police Department. Frisbee added: "Police are not supposed to leave the body. They didn't do their job."
Davidson crashed his motorcycle into one side of the bridge and his body fell 26 feet below. But confusion during the search ensued because after Davidson's body fell off the bridge, the motorcycle kept going. It traveled 200 feet before it crashed on the other side of the bridge, leading police to search the wrong area.
"No one will know if we could have gotten to him quicker if that would have saved his life or not," Jansey said.
