People who break the speed limit on roads in Derbyshire are to be cracked down on by police in the region as part of a month-long initiative, it has been reported.
According to the BBC, officials from across the region will carry out a greater number of checks on motorists and hand out fixed penalty notices and £60 fines to those found breaking the limit.
It may be that a conviction on the road means that drivers find it difficult to pick up a cheap car or motorbike insurance policy, as cover firms could view the penalty as an indication that a person is not safe on the road.
Chief Inspector Lynn Harris commented that the faster a driver travels, the more dangerous they become.
She said: "There can be no doubt that exceeding the speed limit or simply driving too fast for the road conditions is a contributory cause of many road collisions."
