Flower tributes to tragic biker

Flowers have been placed at the side of the road where a teenage biker was killed on Tuesday night.
19-year-old Adam Hamer, of Queensbury, died of his injuries after losing control of his Suzuki SV 650 bike mounting the kerb, hitting a wall and hurtling into a Mercedes Vito van, on Heptonstall Road, Hebden Bridge.

He was second from last in a six-strong group of bikers on the ride at 9.28pm.

Flowers have been laid at the spot where the accident happened.

A 46-year-old resident, who didn't want to be named, was one of the first on the scene. She described how she helped give first aid as they waited for the emergency services to arrive.

"I ran straight down when I heard ", she said.

"He wasn't conscious at all.

"It was a group of lads, they said they were from Calderdale and they all usually go for rides round here.

"They all seemed completely in shock."

The teenager was taken to Calderdale Royal Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police are still hoping to interview four of the other riders.

Tributes have been paid to the 19-year-old on the Courier website.

One reader writes that they had all been to big D's cafe in Todmorden. He said the riders were all "best pals".

Another describes him as a "brilliant lad with so much to get out of life."

"Adam was a very sensible lad and would not put himself in danger what so ever, Our hearts go out to Alan, Joy and Gem."

Sgt Garry Alderson, from Calderdale road traffic, said: "We are still making inquiries to establish exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the accident.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who saw the accident or the group of bikes before the crash happened."
