The third fly away round of the Superbike World Championship will see the series return to America this weekend for the 6th round of the Championship, hosted at the Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. It will be exciting to see how the 3 men strong HANNspree Ten Kate Honda squad will adapt themselves to the 4.905m long, fast track on the Utah flats.
After a difficult last race in Monza, Carlos Checa is eager to make up his loss and put some points on the board to secure his second place in the Championship standings. In the same race Ryuichi Kiyonari turned the continuous progress he showed throughout the last rounds into a maiden appearance on the WSB podium. Kenan Sofuoglu will make his first outing after he was forced to an early withdrawal in the Monza round.
Carlos Checa, Honda CBR1000RR;
“Its good for the World Superbike Championship to be back again racing in America on this new track.”
”The track looks interesting, very technical. There’s a lot of changes in direction so we’ll have to focus on the handling of the bike.”
“We have no previous data from this track and neither has Pirelli, so it will be important for us to select the right tyres to get a good grip here on this fast track.”
I am positive for this weekend and am looking forward to get the bike out here on the track and set a good result for the team.”
Ryuichi Kiyonari, Honda CBR1000RR;
“Miller is another new track for me, but this time I will not have a disadvantage as its new to everyone.”
”I have made a walk around the track and its looks rather difficult, there are many hairpins and the second part of the track looks very fast.”
”I’ll have to adapt myself quickly and learn the track. I need to find the best braking points and make it smoothly through the corners so I can exit them strongly. That’s were ‘m still losing too much at the moment.”
“My aim for the weekend is to run up front and climb up that podium again.”
Kenan Sofuoglu, Honda CBR1000RR;
“I am happy to be back on the track after a hard time. I have had a lot of personal problems over the last week on top of the problems with my riding.”
“There has been some improvement in my last races, I just need to be more consistent. Like all the riders I will have to start from zero again on this new track.”
“I hope this will be the race in which I can quickly built up on the improvement and chase a good result. I like riding a fast track like this, it suits my riding style.”
