Motorcyclists have been blamed for making an eight-mile stretch of road known as the Cat and Fiddle the most dangerous road in the country.
The A537 from Macclesfield in Cheshire to Buxton, Derbyshire, has suffered 43 fatal or serious collisions since 2001, nearly three-quarters involving motorcyclists, according to the Road Safety Foundation.
When rider casualties are removed, the road becomes one of the UK’s safest, the Foundation claims.
Foundation head Dr Joanne Hill blamed riders treating the route as a “race track”.
