Flash-happy camera goes bonkers on the A65 near Kirkby Lonsdale
ROAD USERS travelling at legal speeds on the A65 at Kirkby Lonsdale got a fright after a faulty speed camera started flashing at random.
The camera, which is situatedsits near Devil's Bridge, "flashed" at countless road users, including motorcycles, despite the fact some were travelling below the 40mph speed limit.
Andrew James, administration manager at Cumbria Safety Cameras said a fault had been detected a few days ago but that the machine had started flashing at random on Monday.
He said: "Engineers have been called and we are hoping it will be fixed as soon as possible. I can guarantee that no prosecutions will take place as a result of this."
