Low emission, natural gas motorcycles could soon be available to the mass motorbike market. Would you entertain buying one?
ISRAELI COMPANY Energtek has developed a system to power two- and three- wheeled vehicles with natural gas.
The motorcycles and scooters use gas canisters that can be replaced in less than a minute, without the need for special refueling stations, the company say. The technology also makes it more cost efficient to tap so-called stranded gas in reservoirs that aren't large enough to justify building a pipeline.
Tanks using Energtek's adsorbed natural-gas technology can store the same amount of fuel as those for compressed natural gas without the need for high-pressure filling stations. They can hold even more fuel if filled under higher pressure because of a special micro-porous material that soaks up the gas like a sponge, according to Energtek's Web site.
Conversion costs a minimum of $200 per bike. The company already boast heavy investment from around the globe, including the USA.
