Brands Hatch - Jonathan Rea top in first qualifying session

Jonathan Rea has taken the top spot in the first qualifying session for the Brands Hatch round of the World Superbike championship.

Rea set a best lap of 1:28.117 around the Kent circuit, 0.223 seconds ahead of second placed man Craig Jones leaving two Brits at the top of the table.

Aussie Broc Parkes set the third fastest lap just seven hundreths of a second down on Jones.

Stand-in British rider Karl Harris took 7th on his Yamaha R6, while British championship regular Hudson Kennaugh sits in ninth, Chris Martin takes 16th, Steve Plater is in 17th, Graham Gowland 19th and Billy McConnel 20th.
