Re: Police Pursuit results in biker death Why should my Comment be in the New members Forum ? I was sharing my viewpoint , seeing as tho i actually live overlooking where it happened , I Heard the Impact , and trust me it was one hell of an impact , I got up in time to see him hit the traffic light post , and it took 25 minutes from the impact to the ambulance arriving , which was terrible , then in the middle of it all , not one officer remained at his side until the ambulance arrived , One officer went to him straight away but he then left Alan longs side , after which he was accompanied by no one for easily 10 - 15 minutes , i could hear him moaning from my window as he desperatly tried to get up . There was seven Traffic Units at the scene instantly and they are the ones that had their licences suspended , why does it Need seven units and a chopper to chase a bike down ? In my opinion they dont . RIP Mr Long .

Re: Police Pursuit results in biker death What GB means is that its usually normal to introduce yourself anywhere, including a forum just as you would at a bike meet or a gathering where your are not known thats all Mark. Your viewpoint is appreciated though as it does shed a bit of light on what actually happened without relying on the press, which as we all know, doesn't always give the facts as they happened. I have no idea why the guy refused to stop but I agree that there was no need for this mob handed approach which ended with a tragic death. I really hope that the powers that be take the same vicious line with them as they did with Alan Long.

Re: Police Pursuit results in biker death its just common courtesy & forum etiquette to introduce yerself in the new member's section before posting elsewhere Mark, no big issue mate ![]() think we all agree that given the info available, the police contributed significantly to Alan's death ![]()

Re: Police Pursuit results in biker death Oh right , sorry guys , ive never used one of these before so i really didnt know that . Well im Mark Andrew from Stalybridge , i stumbled on this website whilst looking for the story about the police being suspended . I just wanted to read the news , but i found this place . A friend of mine died in Exactly the same way 3 years ago , Only he was 17 years old and we are all naive at 17 , but he got chased on a stolen Bike ( silly i know ) and the police wouldnt back off , he went through a Red Light and straight into the side of a people carrier . Many witnesses stated that the police were wrong yet nothing happened . something has to be done . Your right about the Press and media though . Apparantly , the control room called a stop to the chase but their call fell on deaf ears . Alan long was the registered owner of the bike , so they will of known where he lived . i dont understand why they couldnt simply get him at home when the bike wasnt going anywhere . It would of saved this tragedy , and ive felt like crap for a week, imagine how the 18 year old polo driver feels , he will live with that forever . , its not summat you wanna see whilst chilling with your mates on friday night . I feel for his family .

Re: Police Pursuit results in biker death I think it's a shame what happend to Mr Long (R.I.P), but the bottom line is: that if you are required to stop by the Police then you must pull over. I've no doubts that there was perhaps overkill on the Police's part with regard's to the chase which led to this fatal crash, but he should have stopped. I know some of you won't like this, but at the moment that is the only true fact....
