Isle of Anglesey Motorcycle Show cancelled amid fears of violence

Police have cancelled the Isle of Anglesey Motorcycle Show amid fears of violence from bike gangs.

The Isle of Anglesey Motorcycle Show was due to be staged from August 22 to 24 on the isle’s showground, but has been cancelled on the advice of North Wales Police.

Cancellation of the event is a massive blow to organisers who lost thousands when the Welsh National Show was also cancelled in May.

The Rock and Blues Custon Motorcycle Show was also cancelled after Derbyshire Police feared there may be violence. Warwickshire Police also tried to cancel the Bulldog Bash, but that went ahead without any reported violence.

This is part of the E-mail I was sent at 4.50pm on Friday.

Four and a half working days before we were due to open.

"The Society has asked me to advise you that it has this afternoon received a further e-mail from Acting Chief Inspector Andy Williams of the North Wales Police.

In the e-mail, the Police have strongly recommended that the Society refuses permission for your event.

I am not at liberty to disclose the contents of the e-mail but can say that the Police have advised that there is a heightened risk of serious public disorder and criminality at the event and recommend the show is cancelled.

As such, and in view of the heightened risk to public safety, the Society has, with much regret decided that it has no option but to accept the recommendation of the Police and refuse consent for the show."

I have no choice or say in this.

Once again I have had to pay out for equipment hire, printing, consumable supplies, etc. Once again I won’t get that money back.

Ask “How can the Police be allowed to do this”

They haven’t gone through the courts or the licensing authorities.

They haven’t produced any “evidence” to back up their position.

We have never called the police to any of our events to deal with any violent behaviour, EVER.

Once again, the police get their own way.

In another show of deceitfulness, the police contacted the Isle of
Anglesey showground committee to tell them that there was a very good chance of violence at this years rally. As with the show in Builth Wells, the showground committee became total pussies and took the cowards way out.

Once again WMS Ltd wasn’t privy to the conversation between the police and the committee, and in a final disrespectful stand, the committee let Steve Bennett of WMS Ltd know of this decision BY EMAIL on Friday evening. They didn’t even have the decency to telephone.

Please do not send any donations to the email addresses dotted around the forums that are linked to Welsh Motorcycle Shows, if the accounts get frozen they will not be able to access these much needed funds
