| Jesse James to race in 32nd Annual World Figure 8 Championship INDIANAPOLIS -- “The World’s Home of the Figure 8” is proud to announce that Jesse James has entered the 32nd Annual World Figure 8 Championship at the Blood Hound Underground Indianapolis Speedrome on September 4th to 6th, 2008. In 1977 they said this race couldn’t be run, a three hour-long Figure 8 contest. No car will last and no driver will last is what everyone said. Now in its 32nd year, the World Figure 8 Championship is “The Greatest Race on the Planet”.
The famed motorcycle builder and American Icon Jesse James will return for a second career appearance in the World Championship. The superstar entrepreneur and one of the most recognizable faces in the country is returning to World’s Home of the Figure 8 ®, the Indianapolis Speedrome. James and his entourage, that will include a film crew and National Television cameras, will invade the Speedrome with the thought of taking the World title back to the west coast for the first time. The fever pitch for this great event has just gone up!
After seeing buddy “Barefoot” Billy Ziemann grab top rookie honors in the Speedrome spectacular in 2002, Jesse and his top notch crew on his hit TV show Monster Garage went on and built a Figure 8 ride. He got his feet wet in 2003 at Irwindale Speedway before upgrading his equipment. James found a unique spot in his schedule that year to make the trip to Indy. The modern-day Outlaw was 10th in his qualifying race before completing 115 laps in a 32nd place finish. Admittedly, Jesse had his outside commitments keep him from enough track time to do his best. Since then, he has stepped up his crossover effort purchasing the two Speedrome built cars. Jesse’s best Figure 8 performances have been the last three years at the Irwindale Speedway which hosts the Western Championship.
