120mph MOTORCYCLIST banned for 15 months.

A MOTORCYCLIST clocked doing 120mph on the A55 has been banned for 15 months.

As a result Ryszard Jablonowski will have to find another means of transport when he heads back to his native Poland tomorrow to get married.

Magistrates in Prestatyn were told that he was “testing” the 600cc Honda when he was caught by a police traffic patrol officer on August 30.

The 30-year-old carpenter, of Glascoed Road, St Asaph, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and he was fined £500 and ordered to pay £75 costs.

ŠIf he returns to this country he will have to take an extended test.

Prosecutor Tracey Willingham said that PC Francis Donaghy was in an unmarked police car on the A55 near Bodelwyddan and was himself doing about 70mph, the limit for the road, when Jablonowski shot past him in the outside lane.

The officer followed him westward for about two miles, reaching 120mph, and when the motorbike started pulling away from him, thus exceeding 120mph, he switched on his siren and blue lights.

Jablonowski stopped near Abergele and told the officer he knew he was doing over 100mph but because of his high speed didn’t look at the speedometer.

He said the machine was owned by his father and he wanted to test it before the long journey back to Poland.

Ms Willingham asked the magistrates for the machine to be confiscated but the request was refused.

Andy Hutchinson, defending, said the only dangerous element was the speed but Jablonowski accepted that it could have been dangerous for other motorists choosing to pull out of their lane.
