3 South Yorkshire motorcyclists caught speeding at biker event

POLICE have condemned the behaviour of South Yorkshire motorcyclists caught riding at up to 128mph at a bikers' event.
Disgusted officers spoke out after riders, from South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Norfolk were taken to court.

Andrew Thornburn was clocked at 130mph, one of the highest speeds ever recorded on a public road, Lincoln magistrates were told The others were caught at between 90-128mph during a crackdown by police at the 'bike night' on the A631 near Market Rasen, Lincolnshire.

Officers with a radar gun snared Thornburn, a turbine fitter, of Newark Road, Lincoln, on his Ducati.

He admitted speeding on July 30 and was given a 56-day ban and a £340 fine. He said he was 'really sorry.'

Scott Dodsworth, of Mulberry Way, Killamarsh, Sheffield, was caught at 128mph on his Yamaha.

Dodsworth, aged 38, who told police he had never hit such a speed in his life, will be sentenced next month after the case was proved in his absence.

Mark Cottam, of Harwood Drive, Waterthorpe, Sheffield, hit 103mph on his Yamaha.

The 42-year-old, who pleaded guilty to speeding, was fined £370 with six penalty points on his licence.

lotta fuss about nothing particularly unusual ere IMO

doubt there's many group rideouts where at least one rider doesn't exceed these speeds - even I've gone considerably quicker on occasion

on a private road obviously wouldn't want to incriminate y'self
