Airwaves Ducati's Shane 'Shakey' Byrne - "Now I am champion bring on Brands Hatch"

Airwaves Ducati's Shane 'Shakey' Byrne may have become Bennetts British Superbike Champion for the second time in his career last weekend at Silverstone, but he is not resting on his laurels just yet - there are still two race wins up for the taking at Brands Hatch next weekend (10/11/12 October).

The final round is less than a week away and 'Shakey' wants to leave one final stamp on the championship before he joins the Sterilgarda Ducati team in WSB now that he is officially number one. At the start of the season 'Shakey' was the dominator; taking eight wins and four second places from 12 races, but he has not stood on the top step of the podium since June at Mallory Park. The Brands Hatch round is also going to be important to the Airwaves Ducati team as the GSE Group is based in nearby Ashford.

Byrne said: "I'm absolutely delighted to have taken the British Superbike Championship at Silverstone for Airwaves Ducati, GSE Racing and everyone that has supported me throughout my career. Now I can't wait to go to Brands Hatch, my home circuit, and just go out there and enjoy myself knowing that the Championship is mine. I'm going to be pushing one hundred percent to get back onto the top step of the podium and I really hope I can sign the season off in style!"
