Re: Biker dies after lorry crash on A98 near Buckie This tragic accident happenened about a mile along the road from me. Don't have the full details and I see the police have signs up asking for witnesses. The rider was a young man only 23 years old on a BMW GS who was known to ride carefully. I don't know what happened but understand that a lorry and a tractor were involved. Rumour is that he may have been overtaking the lorry and the lorry then moved out to overtake the tractor, forcing him onto the verge. Time will tell no doubt.

Re: Biker dies after lorry crash on A98 near Buckie UP-DATE Renewed appeal after biker named Police have renewed an appeal for witnesses after a motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a lorry on the A98 near Buckie on Friday. The man - later named as Gareth McRae, 23, from Portknockie - died in the accident near the Inchgower Distillery. The vehicles involved, all travelling west, were a green tractor, a white 19-tonne lorry and a black BMW motorcycle. Grampian Police are particularly keen to speak to a man thought to have stopped in a white Vauxhall car. article news.bbc

Re: Biker dies after lorry crash on A98 near Buckie The A96/98 are a total nightmare, i was looking at commuting from forres to aberdeen every day but it was going to be a 2 1/2 hr drive each way on some of the worst roads ive ever seen and its only 60 ish miles, when we first moved up to scotland my wife and i got stranded by insch in a snowstorm and had to spend new years eve at a total strangers house...on the way to aberdeen it had been sunny but the weather changes so fast up there it was amazing. add to that the total impatience of alot of drivers and it doesnt take long for these tragedies to occur ![]() R.I.P Gareth McRae, our thoughts are with your family.
