Final journey of a popular police officer
Sad farewell: Colleagues lead the many tributes at the funeral of Pc Glen Howe
A CAVALCADE of police motorcyclists led the funeral procession of a popular South Yorkshire officer killed at work.
PC Glen Howe, who served with South Yorkshire Police's bike wing, was killed when his bike was in a collision with a bin lorry on Prince of Wales Road, Darnall, last month.
Heartbroken friends and relatives who paid tribute to the 48-year-old said motorbikes were his passion.
To mark his dedication to and love of his job his police motorcycle helmet took pride of place on this coffin.
His police colleagues stood shoulder to shoulder, and others shared the sad honour of carrying his coffin into his local church St John's in Deepcar yesterday afternoon.
Other officers, in full uniform, lined the pathway to the church doors.
The service was followed by a service at Grenoside Crematorium's North Chapel.
PC Howe, who joined South Yorkshire Police in 1980, leaves wife Linda and children Donna, aged 24, and Jason, 20.
