| Re: Gloucestershire police to loan new locks to bikers Thing is, by the time you've ridden into any town nowadays, you've been picked up by a shedload of ANPR cameras anyway, so I don't see the argument. ![]() Anyway, back on topic.... Like I said, I think it's a top idea. Hats off for an authority actually pulling their finger out to HELP bikers. |

| Re: Gloucestershire police to loan new locks to bikers <Sigh> No wonder old Geroge Orwell was so spot on with attitudes like that about. I still say it's a stealth way of monitoring bikers in the area. there's no need for "proof of ID" is the offer is genuine and not a stealth ploy to "collect data" Personally I'll be using my own locks & chains, carried in a backpack if need be. |

![]() i too fail to see the arguement.....nowhere does it say "YOU MUST TAKE THIS LOCK....".....the Big Brother is watching you theory is sorta irrelavant.....should really be Big Brother is watching you...only if you opt in though the option is there....if you wanna lock up your bike so you can go about your shopping without worrying...then you can....its a fair idea.... i never carry my padlock and chain about- weighs a fecking ton and if i come off when its in my backpack then im likely to get a broken back....so given the choice of borrowing one at my destination - i would love to | |

| Re: Gloucestershire police to loan new locks to bikers Then there would be nothing to stop some burberry capped chav on his scooter, from getting a fair few quids worth of lock and chain and buggering off, never to be seen again. Would you lend £40 to someone you'd never clapped eyes on before ? I think not. |
