Illegal riders warned they 'will be caught'

Thames Valley police have issued a reminder to parents and guardians that youngsters riding mini motos and quad bikes are not exempt from taking out bike insurance.

Officers in Aylesbury have been experiencing a number of problems with the vehicles being ridden on playing fields and footpaths, and one quad bike rider was arrested recently for driving through a busy shopping centre in the region.

After being stopped by Police Community Support Officers, the driver of the bike "became verbally abusive" and nearly ran over one of the officers.

The driver was arrested and had his quad bike seized, and police are now stepping up patrols in the area to try and put a stop to any similar incidents.

Neighbourhood sergeant Liz Bean said bikers should be aware that road traffic regulations still apply to mini motos and quad bikes.

Riders will need to have a full driving licence, bike insurance, MOT and road tax to use the vehicles in a public place, she added, or else "face the consequences of a fine, possibly losing [their] licence and even a custodial sentence."

The warning comes after police in Northumbria yesterday launched a crackdown on off-road bikers who were "risking their lives" by riding illegally on a coal site in the region.

Re: Officers in Aylesbury warn Illegal riders they 'will be caught'

What REALLY fnuks me off about this, is people buy quads and minimotos for their children, and let them out on the roads with them, they are not fnuking toys, jeez!, if you want your kids to dice with death on the roads, let them drive your own car!!!!!!

Dont wish to upset fellow Forum Members, but this is one topic that irks me
